Former Pakistan Official: Pakistan’s “Crackdown” on Terrorists Following Mumbai Is Just “Eyewash”

The Times of India is reporting that Pakistan’s former human rights minister, Ansar Burney, is saying that Pakistan’s “crackdown” on terrorists following the attacks on Mumbai, India, are all “eyewash.”

From the Times of India:

Burney said Pakistan government was only issuing statements in newspapers and had not produced any of the arrested Jamat activists on TV or before public…..

He claimed the government had allowed Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed to have a bullet-proof car.

He said though the government had banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, the same organization with the same leaders was working under the name of Jamat-ud-Dawa, that too under the very nose of the government.

“Pakistan government can’t fool the international community by claiming to have arrested the Jamat leaders. They should actually keep tabs on those protecting them,” Burney said, adding that as a right activist he was not satisfied with the Pakistan government’s action against terror hubs.

He said despite international pressure to take strict action against the perpetrators of terror from Pakistan’s soil, the government had adopted a sympathetic attitude towards them.
