Limbaugh Enrages Democrats Again; Insult To Kennedy Claimed

March 6, 2009

A Democratic official rebuked conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh on Friday for suggesting a health care proposal will be named in memory of Sen. Edward Kennedy, who is battling brain cancer. On his radio show, Limbaugh said President Barack Obama‘s proposed health care revisions will be championed by “the liberal lion Teddy Kennedy.”

“Before it’s all over, it’ll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care bill,” Limbaugh said.

Brian Wolff, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, called the remark outrageous and reprehensible.

Limbaugh has been at the center of a partisan dispute since telling a conservative group last month that he hoped Obama’s economic policies would fail. Democrats have accused Republicans of letting Limbaugh be their de facto leader, which GOP officials deny.

Limbaugh did not respond immediately to a request for comment that was sent to the e-mail address provided on his Web site.

Stimulus? Senator Unleashes “Gay Insult” During Debate Tongue-Lashing

February 8, 2009

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) accused Senaor Lindsey Graham (R-SC) of being too “theatrical” during the Senate debate of the stimulus bill on Saturday.

“It’s clearly a ‘gay insult,'” a gay friend told me.

Ooops.

As the Huffington Post tells it:

Lindsey Graham is not only theatrical, in a different party he could have been fabulous. Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Foley, Charlie Crist, J. Edgar Hoover – historically a gaggle of Republicans have raised eyebrows across Capital Hill. But if Boxer is speaking in some kind of code it is fascinating to imagine what will happen if she ups the ante every day until the Stimulus Bill gets passed. Because, frankly, Lindsey looks nervous.

Man Charged With Public Disorder for Shoe Throwing At Chinese Premier

February 3, 2009

The man that threw a shoe at China’s Premier Wen Jiabao has been charged with a “public order offense” and is expected to stand trial before a Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on February 10.

He could face up to 6 months in prison or a £5,000 fine, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service said in London.

The throwing of the shoe was seen as a protest of Chinese policies supported by Mr. Wen.

In China, the state controlled media told the Chinese public only that there had been an incident.  The shoe throwing was not further described.

Wen went to Britain to talk economic issues following the Davos international financial forum last week.

He was met on Sunday by “Free Tibet” protesters.
